Ex-Tory MP Harvey Proctor has said he hopes it is "not long" before the police investigation into Sir Cliff Richard is closed.
Speaking at a press conference yesterday, the 69-year-old praised the singer for acting with "great dignity" as he faces allegations of sex crimes.
"He has had a tough time," said Mr Proctor, who served as an MP from 1979 until 1987.
"He has acted with great dignity, and he will know what is best for him.
"I hope it's not long before he has similar news to that that I received last week."
Sir Cliff's Berkshire penthouse was raided in August 2014 by police investigating a claim of a sex crime involving a young boy in the 1980s.
