Liz Hurley-link Shane Warne splits from wife
Former Aussie cricket star Shane Warne has confirmed he has split from his wife amid reports linking him to model Liz Hurley.
The ex-spin bowler's admission comes just hours after Hurley said she had parted from her husband, businessman Arun Nayar.
In a message posted on his website, 41-year-old Warne said: "Sadly and unfortunately, Simone and I split up a while ago, our close friends and family were informed at that time. It is a private matter so we did not make it public. We remain friends and will continue to be good parents."
He and Hurley, 45, spent two nights together in a London hotel suite last week, according to the News of the World. The unlikely pair have been exchanging messages on social networking site Twitter.
Hurley - also an actress, producer and businesswoman - on Sunday used the site to confirm her separation: "Not a great day. For the record, my husband Arun & I separated a few months ago. Our close family & friends were aware of this."
The 45-year-old, who dated actor Hugh Grant for more than a decade, has an eight-year-old son Damian from a relationship with film producer Steve Bing.
She married Nayar three years ago in a civil ceremony at Sudeley Castle in Winchcombe, Gloucestershire, in 2007. They then held traditional Indian wedding celebrations at the Mehrangarh fort in Jodhpur.
Warne flew into the UK on Wednesday to shoot interviews for his new TV show, Warnie, and the News Of The World said he and Hurley spent Wednesday and Thursday night at his hotel in South Kensington.
Hurley is still known for her eye-popping appearance in 1994 when she wore a Versace dress held together with giant safety pins - commonly referred to as "that dress" - to accompany Grant to the Four Weddings And A Funeral premiere.
She gave up city life for a Gloucestershire organic farm, and said last year: "My son Damian is so much happier there - having fresh air and running around outside. We made the big decision last Easter to move down there full-time - which was a big, dramatic change for a city girl - but I love it, I couldn't love it more."
