London set for fresh cuts protest

A fresh protest against the Government's public spending cuts is to be held in London's Trafalgar Square this weekend, with activists staging a 24-hour overnight camp.

Around 150 people staged a peaceful protest in the square last weekend, including students and trade unionists, to raise awareness of the impact of the cuts on jobs and services.

The demonstrators said they also wanted to raise awareness of the "increasing privatisation" of public areas.
