Man, 21, charged with double murder
A 21-year-old man has been charged with the murders of his grandmother and aunt.
Lee Browne is accused of stabbing to death Maureen Allen, 79, and Geraldine Allen, 57, at the home they all shared in Fulwood, Preston.
Post-mortem examinations showed both victims suffered multiple stab wounds.
Officers discovered their bodies at about 2am on Monday when they were called to reports of a fire at the semi-detached bungalow in Longfield.
The accused is the grandson of Maureen Allen and nephew of Geraldine Allen.
The 79-year-old had lived at the property for more than 25 years and her daughter, who acted as her carer, and her grandson moved in later.
A Lancashire Constabulary spokeswoman said: "A Preston man has today been charged with two murders.
"Lee Browne, 21, of Longfield in Fulwood, Preston has been remanded to appear before Preston Magistrates' Court this afternoon."
