Man, 23, arrested over knife death

A 23-year-old is being questioned on suspicion of murder after one man was killed and two others injured, police said.

Nottinghamshire Police said officers were called to Jephson Road, in Sutton-in-Ashfield at about 11.30pm on Friday night after receiving a call to a serious incident.

A spokesman said: "There they found three men with injuries caused by what is believed at this time to be a knife or bladed instrument.

"One of the men, a 27-year-old, was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

"Another man is in a serious condition in hospital and a third man had received what is described as superficial injuries."

He said the suspect was arrested shortly afterwards and was being questioned by police.

"At this stage we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident," he added.

The spokesman said the scene had been cordoned off for officers to carry out forensic examinations.
