Man arrested in Syria terror probe raid
A 20-year-old suspected of travelling to Syria to join Islamic State has been arrested in an early-morning raid.
The alleged would-be jihadi was held in east London at around 7am on Wednesday on suspicion of engaging in conduct in preparation for committing an act of terrorism.
He is accused of attempting to travel to Syria to join a proscribed organisation, the Metropolitan Police said.
The man was arrested by officers from Scotland Yard's counter-terrorism squad and remains in custody, and his home is being searched.
