Man arrested over suspected arson

Detectives investigating the death of a man whose body was found after a suspected arson attack on his home have made a second arrest.

West Mercia Police said a male aged in his 30s was detained in Worcester late on Friday in connection with the death of 52-year-old Andrew Heath.

Mr Heath's body was found by fire crews on Wednesday after a severe blaze at his flat in the Warndon area of Worcester, where he lived alone.

Meanwhile, police have released a man aged in his 20s who was also arrested following the fire in Chedworth Close, Warndon, which broke out in the early hours.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Williamson, who is leading the investigation, said: "We are still piecing together what has happened and we need to know as much as possible about Mr Heath and his life.

"I would urge anyone who knew him and who has yet to speak to the police to contact us.

"We also need to talk to anyone who knows something about this or saw or heard any unusual activity in or around Chedworth Drive in the early hours of Wednesday last week."

Anyone with information should call police on 0300 333 3000 or contact the Crimestoppers service on 0800 555 111.
