Man charged with murder of baby
A man has been charged with the murder of a one-month-old baby girl who died almost two years ago.
Mark Jones is accused of killing Amelia Jones who died in November 2012 in the Cwmbran area, south east Wales.
Gwent Police said the 45-year-old, from Cwmbran, had also been charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice and will face magistrates in Newport later today.
A force spokesman would not able to say whether the man they had charged was related to Amelia.
A 17-year-old boy from the Cwmbran area has been charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice and will also appear in court today.
A 51-year-old woman from the same area who was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice has been bailed pending further inquiries.
Amelia died on November 19, 2012, two days after police were called to a property in Waun Hywel Road, Pontnewydd, Cwmbran by the ambulance service following concerns for her health.
A Gwent Police spokesman said: "A 45-year-old man who was arrested following the death of one month baby girl Amelia Jones from the Cwmbran area in November 2012 has been charged with murder and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
"The man, from the Cwmbran area, is due to appear before Newport Magistrates' Court today."
