Man held over university bomb alert

A man has been arrested after a bomb scare near a university building.

Police, fire crews and bomb disposal teams were called to East Road in Cambridge at about 1pm on Monday.

Students and lecturers were evacuated from Anglia Ruskin University following reports of a suspicious package.

The road was closed for more than six hours.

Cambridgeshire Police confirmed that a 27-year-old man has been arrested and is being questioned.
