A 43-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of an attempted hijacking and robbery in Belfast last year.

Detective sergeant Eric Fairfield said the man was arrested in north Belfast yesterday morning.

He was detained by detectives from Musgrave Police Station in connection with the attempted hijacking of a vehicle in Henry Street during the early hours of September 15, 2018.

The suspect was taken into police custody for questioning.

"Two 19-year-old men were in a car park on the Antrim Road in Glengormley when they were approached by two unknown males who asked for a lift to Belfast," the PSNI officer said.

"When they arrived in Henry Street the two males threatened the men and demanded the keys of the car before making off with their mobile phones.

"A 32-year-old male arrested in April in connection with the incident remains on police bail at this time."
