Man shot in head flying home to UK

By Rod Minchin

A Briton shot in the head during an attempted robbery in Antigua on Christmas night is on his way home to the UK.

Christopher Tester (37) has been flown to Guadeloupe from the Caribbean island.

He is expected to fly to the UK in the next few days, according to his family.

Mr Tester, from Torquay, was placed in an induced coma in Antigua after he was attacked at his parents' restaurant on Christmas night.

Friends launched a fundraising appeal on the Crowdfunder website afterwards. So far they have far raised more than £60,000 of a £90,000 target.

In a statement posted on Facebook, Mr Tester's family said: "Chris has now arrived safely in Guadeloupe.

"We've a long way to go for his recuperation and it's no small part down to the services in Antigua, who have been incredible.

"Words cannot express how much your support means to Chris."
