A man who had not been seen since leaving his home for work more than three weeks ago has been found “safe and well”.

Matthew Wainwright, of James Campbell Road, Ayr, had last been seen leaving his home on Monday July 22.

The 32-year-old was due to return from work in the north of England on Friday July 26 but had only made “one or two calls to his family”.

Police Scotland said on Friday: “Matthew has been traced safe and well. Thanks to everyone for their assistance.”
