A phone message from Prince William to Kate Middleton was intercepted by a private investigator working for the News of the World, the hacking trial has been told.

The message recorded by Glenn Mulcaire was of William simply arranging to leave Sandhurst to meet his then girlfriend, the Old Bailey heard.

It was found on a micro-cassette in former royal editor Clive Goodman's flat.

The court heard about other stories on the young royals, which Goodman confirmed came from hacking. Prince Harry's phone was also targeted.

Goodman admitted phone hacking and was sentenced in 2007. He denies conspiring to commit misconduct in a public office.
