Modern parenting condemned in poll
Britons believe parents are losing control of their children, according to a new survey.
More than three quarters of those who took part in the BBC Radio 4 poll believed parenting has deteriorated over the past decade.
And 81% felt parents should be held responsible for their children's bad behaviour.
The survey - to tie in with a new series Bringing Up Britain - found 75% agreed British parents were losing control of their youngsters' behaviour.
And 65% of the 1,000 people polled felt teenage gang culture was a result of poor parenting.
The first programme in the series - which begins on Radio 4 on Wednesday at 8pm, hosted by Mariella Frostrup - will see experts debating the issues.
A total of 77% thought the way parents bring up their children has worsened in the past 10 years.
And 60% believed parents lack the necessary skills to discipline effectively.
