Mother and baby daughter go missing

A mother has gone missing with her five-day-old daughter amid fears the newborn child would be removed by Social Services.

Catherine Hicks-Isaac, 25, who is understood to suffer mental health problems, disappeared with baby Andrea after meeting social workers.

Fears are now growing for the welfare of the pair who are thought to be with the child's father Duncan Caine, Norfolk police said.

Ms Hicks-Isaac, known as Cathy, had come straight from the James Paget University Hospital to discuss "some issues" relating to Andrea with Social Services in Great Yarmouth, before she went missing.

It is believed the talks may have upset her.

She and Andrea were last seen in the North Quay area of the town.

Detective Superintendent Julian Gregory has urged the couple to make contact.

"Cathy, if you're listening we would like to speak with you to understand what has happened between you and Social Services," he said.

"We know that you are trying to be a good mum and you are looking to do the best for Andrea but we do need to speak with you.

"To Duncan, I would ask you to help us be certain that Andrea and Cathy are safe and well as we will continue to worry about you all. We know you can help us find Andrea and Cathy before this matter escalates further."
