MP's wheelchair claim is rejected

An MP who was seriously injured in a skiing accident had to borrow an electric wheelchair belonging to a colleague's aunt because the expenses watchdog would not allow him one.

Tory Graham Stuart suffered a collapsed lung, five broken ribs and a "smashed up" pelvis while skiing in Chamonix in the French Alps in March.

The MP said the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority denied his request for the chair because the doctor only said he "probably" needed it.
