Murder probe after two bodies found

Detectives have launched a murder inquiry after two women were discovered dead.

Emergency crews were called to a property in Millom, Cumbria, at about 8.40am on Saturday where the pair, one aged in her 20s and the other in her 50s, were found.

Cumbria Police said they had arrested a man on suspicion of murder and are not looking for anyone else in connection with the crime.

The force issued a statement, saying: "An investigation has been launched and a man, aged 23 from Millom, was arrested nearby on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

"At this time, police do not suspect that anyone else was involved but are continuing to investigate.

"Police are working to formally identify the two people."

Later, a force spokesman added: "The victims are believed to be related to the suspect.

"Police are continuing with their inquiries but at this time they do not suspect anyone else to be involved. A post-mortem will take place tomorrow (Sunday)."
