Mystery as man's body discovered in pond

By Lucy Bogustawski

The circumstances that led to the death of a man whose body was found in a garden pond on Boxing Day have been described by a detective as "a bit of a mystery".

The body of Paul Humphries (41) was discovered on Thursday at the front of a property in Chaucer Crescent, Kidderminster.

West Mercia Police said they are keen to hear from anyone who saw Mr Humphries between about 1.30am and 9am on Boxing Day.

He was last seen at his home in Tennyson Way, a few minutes' walk from where he was found, shortly before 1.30am when a friend checked on him.

Mr Humphries, who was single and lived alone, had been taken unwell during the evening on Christmas Day.

His death is being treated by police as unexplained.

Mr Humphries' relatives have been contacted, police said, and the Worcestershire Coroner has been informed and a post-mortem is due to be held today.
