North Korea: We back Scottish independence
Alex Salmond has said that the eyes of the world are on Scotland - although he probably did not expect them to include any from North Korea.
The Scottish first minister claimed support from the vast majority of the world's countries and said "only a handful" had stated their backing for the Union.
He added: "Scotland is on the cusp of making history. The eyes of the world are upon Scotland."
But among them, apparently, is North Korea's tyrannical regime.
"I believe independence will be positive as it will encourage personal exchanges and provide both countries with business chances," Choe Kwan-il, managing editor of the pro-North Korea Choson Sinbo newspaper, told The Daily Telegraph. "North Korea is rich in natural resources and we like the taste of Scotch whisky, so we can be beneficial to each other."
Leader of the House of Commons William Hague said he was not surprised that countries hostile to the UK backed independence. He added: "Our enemies, those who spread terror in the world, who attack our citizens, would be satisfied if this happens."
