Tributes have been paid to the former Grand Master of the Grand Orange Lodge of Scotland.

Ian Wilson, who held the position between 1994 and 2010, suffered a stroke and died on Sunday surrounded by his family.

Edward Stevenson, the Grand Master of the Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland, offered his sympathies to the Wilson family and highlighted Mr Wilson's contribution to the Orange Institution.

"There is no doubt Ian was fully dedicated to the Orange Order and his contribution to the work of the Order in Scotland cannot be overstated. He was a gentleman and his sudden passing will come as a big loss," he said.

Mervyn Bishop, Imperial Grand Secretary, said he was shocked by the news.

As well as being a prominent and active member of the Orange Order, Mr Wilson was responsible for developing the Orange Torch publication into a wide-reaching magazine. He was editor until his passing.
