Organisers slam thugs over brawl during ball
The organisers of a new year party marred by a series of stabbings have hit out at the "disgusting" thugs responsible for the violence.
Warwickshire Police have so far arrested seven men in connection with assaults and stabbings at a nightclub at The Belfry golf resort near Sutton Coldfield.
At least seven people were injured during the clashes, including a man who is in a serious but stable condition in hospital.
Police said the "very challenging" disorder began in the first hour of New Year's Day and continued after the arrival of officers.
In a statement, the promoter of the ball, Birmingham-based Nude Nights, blamed a "mere fraction" of attendees for the violence.
The statement read: "Unfortunately, this is a very sad case of a minority overshadowing the majority and spoiling what was a hugely successful event and as such we're now talking about this minority's disgusting and inexcusable behaviour."
Four of those arrested by police have been released on bail.
Another three men, aged in their 20s and from the Birmingham area, remain in police custody.
