Police have identified the owner of a lost camera after releasing pictures of an unknown bride and groom which were found on it.

Officers in Edinburgh turned to Twitter in the hope of tracing whoever took the photos of the newlyweds.

Police recovered the camera around October 3 and tweeted the photos on Monday.

The images were retweeted dozens of times.

On Tuesday police said the owner of the device had been found.

They tweeted: “Thank you for all your help identifying the owner of the camera we recovered with wedding photos on it.

“Great response from the online community.”
