Parents pay tribute to 'kind daughter' found dead at Brighton home
The parents of a young woman who was found dead at her Brighton home said the teenager was a "beautiful girl" and a "kind, thoughtful, caring daughter".
Shana Grice, 19, was discovered at her house in Chrisdory Road in the Mile Oak area of the city on Thursday morning after an alarm was raised when she did not arrive at work.
Police called to the property at 9.45am found Ms Grice's body inside, but no one else at the house.
A 27-year-old man was arrested later that day on suspicion of murder and is being questioned by detectives.
Magistrates in Brighton on Friday granted police extra time to hold the man until Sunday as detectives continue to question him.
A post-mortem examination is expected to be finished on Friday evening, Sussex Police said.
Paying tribute to their daughter, Sharon Grice and Richard Green, from Hove, said: "Shana is our beautiful girl, a kind, thoughtful, caring daughter who always thought of others.
"We would like to thank everyone for their beautiful kind words."
The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has been notified of Ms Grice's death, as police had been in contact with her and "other people" previously, Sussex Police said.
A spokesman added: "Her family have been informed of this development. We await the IPCC's decision as to how any internal investigation will be conducted."
