PM seeks to ease fears over delay to nuclear plant

By Staff Reporter

Government officials moved to reassure Chinese and French investors yesterday that the troubled Hinkley Point C nuclear power station plan remained a viable project, despite requesting a six-month delay to review the £18bn infrastructure project.

Prime Minister Teresa May is understood to have spoken to French President Francois Hollande about the proposed plant on Wednesday, after the Government announced its shock decision to review the plan.

While it is understood that French companies involved in the project have accepted the Government's position, the China General Nuclear Power Corporation was reported to be "bemused" by the UK position.
