Police 'allowed to have undercover sex'

The Home Office has said it is okay for undercover cops to have sex with suspected criminals if it helps them remain undetected.

But such tactics would have to be “strictly managed”, according to Minister Nick Herbert who spoke out after the trial of environmental activists in Nottingham which collapsed.

It was revealed that the court case had to be shelved when the group was infiltrated by an officer who then had relationships with two women.

Mr Herbert said if police were not allowed to have sex with activists that could be used as a ploy of outing possible undercover officers.
