Police: Escaped killer recaptured
A convicted murderer with paranoid schizophrenia has been found after going missing from a mental health hospital for almost 24 hours.
Hampshire Police said Daniel Rosenthal, 58, went missing at 2.30pm on Saturday after taking "a routine unsupervised walk around the gardens" of Tatchbury Mount Hospital, Totton.
He was found at around 11am on Sunday in Southampton.
Police warned members of the public not to approach Rosenthal and described him as "potentially dangerous".
According to the Southern Daily Echo he killed his parents in 1981 aged 27, and cut up their bodies into small pieces.
The newspaper reported that he killed his 65-year-old father, Milton, in Paris before murdering his 60-year-old mother, Leah, in Hedge End, near Southampton.
Dr Julian Lewis, Tory MP for New Forest East, questioned why Rosenthal was given the freedom of taking unsupervised walks.
He said: "Whilst it is a relief that this man has been found, it is disturbing that someone regarded as a danger to the public - who should not be approached - was allowed to go for unsupervised walks."
