Police hold man after fatal fire

A man who police were searching in connection with the suspicious death of a woman following a fire has been arrested.

Peter Holboll, 44, was wanted by detectives investigating the suspected murder of a woman believed to be in her 60s who was found dead in Camden, north London, early yesterday.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "At around 21:30hrs on Friday, May 9, Peter Holboll voluntarily attended a north London hospital.

"He was arrested on suspicion of murder and taken to a north London police station where he remains in custody."

Holboll had last been seen Thursday morning, with police earlier yesterday appealing for help in tracing the suspect and warning the public not to approach him.

London Fire Brigade (LFB) alerted police to reports of a blaze in a ground floor residential address in Lawford Road, Camden, at 5.43am.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

She has not yet been formally identified and next of kin have not been informed.

Three women, a man and a baby in separate flats on the first and second floors of the building were rescued by firefighters after escaping on to a flat roof during the incident.

The fire was brought under control just after 7.30am and one of the women was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation, LFB said.

Anyone with any information should call police on 020 8721 4868 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
