Police investigating death of man 'with Irish accent' after body found in kayak

Police are trying to identify the body of a man - believed to have an Irish accent - after the man was found in a kayak on a beach.

His body was found in the kayak on Yaverland Beach, Sandown on the Isle of Wight on Friday, September 11.

The death is currently being treated as unexplained and policing are currently trying to establish the circumstances.

The man, believed to be in his mid 20s-mid 30s, was described as having blue eyes, dark hair, and "nice teeth", according to a police spokesperson.

He was last seen at Brighton Canoes, in Newhaven, Sussex, at around 4pm on September 8.

He was described as ‘well built’ and was wearing beige shorts and a blue zip-up jacket

The man's kayak was a yellow and black ‘blow up’ Sevylor Conrad.

Police have appealed for help with their investigation and have asked people who recognise the man from the description, or who have any information that may help the investigation, to contact them.
