An eight-year-old boy has died following a crash on Aberdeen's Great Northern Road

Police have named a boy who died following a crash between his bike and a mobile crane.

Kyle Allan, eight, from the Northfield area of Aberdeen, died in hospital after the incident in the city.

Police were called to Great Northern Road near the Haudagain roundabout just after 7.30pm on Thursday.

Kyle was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary but died of his injuries a short time later.

The road was closed between its junction with the A90 and St Machar Drive for seven hours after the crash.

The mobile crane has since been moved from the site of the incident.
