Officers have appealed for residents in Airdrie, Chapelhall and Coatbridge to check gardens and outbuildings for any sign of the 69-year-old.

Sergeant Mark Chivers said: “This is completely out of character for John and it is vital that we find him and confirm that he is OK.

“I am appealing to local residents in the Airdrie, Chapelhall and Coatbridge areas to keep a look out for John and report any sightings to police.
