Police seize £1.6m drugs in raid

Police have recovered drugs worth an estimated £1.6 million in a house raid.

Cannabis resin weighing in at 173kg, 67kg of amphetamine and 38 bags of ecstasy were found after officers executed a warrant at an address in Rochdale, Greater Manchester.

The raid was carried out in Grisedale Road, Castleton, at about 6.30pm on Thursday.

A 45-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possessing class A drugs with intent to supply and remains in police custody.

Inspector Michelle Hughes said: "This operation has been carried out on the back of community-led intelligence. The inquiries we are now carrying out and the recovery that has been made would not have been possible had people in the area not come to us with information.

"We fully investigate all reports that come to us and we are as committed as our residents to rid our communities of drugs and drug dealing.

"Their trust and faith in us is being rewarded with our streets becoming safer."
