Pony causes a stink as Queen kick starts her summer break
The Queen started her summer break at Balmoral in the Scottish Highlands with an inspection of a guard of honour.
But while the soldiers of 5 Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland were on their best behaviour, one member of the welcoming committee committed something of a faux pas.
The regimental mascot - Shetland Pony Mascot Cruachan IV - decided to relieve himself in front of the monarch.
It prompted the Queen - wearing a sky blue ensemble - to hold her nose at the ensuing whiff.
The Queen had greeted the cheeky pony by saying "here we are again" - a reference to how he had tried to eat her posy of flowers last year.
The Queen is staying at Balmoral Castle now that it is closed to the public. She had been residing earlier at Craigowan Lodge, a smaller cottage on the estate.
