Pregnant Meghan stuns in Australian designer for first day of tour Down Under

Fans were eager to catch a glimpse of any baby bump.

The Duchess of Sussex chose a stunning ivory dress by Australian designer Karen Gee for her first engagement on the royal couple’s 16-day tour – as all eyes were on any hint of a baby bump.

Meghan chose the fitted shift dress as she stepped out in public for the first time since the news of her pregnancy was revealed.

Within minutes of being pictured in the gown at Sydney’s Admiralty House, the designer’s website had crashed as royal fans clamoured to find out more, and perhaps even bag their own version of the stylish duchess’s outfit.

The “Blessed” dress, which sets buyers back 1,800 Australian dollars (£977), is described as a “timeless classic” which features a “simple, structured fit designed to contour the body for a sleek silhouette”.

Ms Gee, who is based in Sydney, said it was a “wonderful surprise” to see Meghan in one of her designs – although had been aware it could happen after submitting several pieces for consideration.

“I can’t describe it as anything other than an honour for the brand to be recognised by someone who really exemplifies our values and the epitome of modern glamour,” she said.

“What was so humbling is that there’s so many great designers out there to choose from, so it was a thrill for us to see Meghan wearing Karen Gee.”

Meghan paired the dress with butterfly earrings and a bracelet which once belonged to Harry’s mother, Diana, and wore her hair loose over her shoulders. She finished the outfit off with nude stilettos.

The duchess, whose fashion choices have been scrutinised ever since she and Harry started dating, has favoured Australian designers on multiple occasions in the past, choosing a Ralph & Russo dress for her engagement portraits.

She also also been seen sporting fashion from Camilla and Marc, Oroton and Natalie Marie.

The 37-year-old is expected to go through several outfit changes during each day of her tour.
