Prison sees third inmate escape
Police are hunting a convicted burglar who has absconded from HMP Leyhill - the third inmate to go on the run from the prison inside a week.
Avon and Somerset Police said Michael Dare - described as a risk to the public - was last seen at the prison in South Gloucestershire at around 5pm on Friday.
The 29-year-old, who is serving a 20-month sentence for a burglary committed in 2010, has links to Suffolk but is believed to be in Birmingham.
He is described as white, 5ft 11ins, of heavy build, with an angular face and receding brown hair.
Dare speaks with an East Anglian accent and has a tattoo of a cross on his left arm. He was wearing a tracksuit at the time he is believed to have absconded.
An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said: "Dare, who we believe may be in the Birmingham area, is considered to be a risk to the public so we'd advise anyone who sees him not to approach him, but to call 999 immediately."
Police are already hunting convicted murderer Daniel Shankly, 30, and 29-year-old Daniel Wynne who are believed to have vanished together from the prison on October 25.
Shankly, who has links to Weston super Mare in North Somerset, is described as white, about 6ft 3ins tall and of slim build.
Wynne, who is serving a two-year sentence for assault, has links to the Caerphilly area of South Wales.
