Probe after man killed on motorway

A man was killed after being struck by "several vehicles" on a motorway, police have said.

The incident took place close to junction eight of the London-bound carriageway of the M20 near Maidstone in Kent.

A Kent Police spokesman said the serious crash investigation unit and body recovery team was sent to the scene at around 12.30am early on Saturday morning.

The coastbound carriageway of the motorway reopened earlier and the London-bound carriageway is due to be reopened shortly, he said.

The motorway was fully reopened shortly after midday, police said.

The victim, a 25-year-old male pedestrian from the Maidstone area, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

Any witnesses to the incident are asked to call the serious collision investigation unit on 01622 798538.
