Pupil killed in Aberdeen school Cults Academy stabbing

A schoolboy has been killed following a stabbing at a secondary school in Aberdeen.

Officers were called to Cults Academy in the west of the city at about 1.30pm.

Police Scotland said a male pupil has been taken by ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

They later confirmed he had died.

One person, described only as a male, has been detained and is said to be helping officers with their inquiries.

Police Scotland said their inquiries into the incident are continuing and officers are still at the scene.

A spokesman added: "Inquiries into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing and officers will remain at the scene for the time being.

"Next of kin are aware."

An Aberdeen City Council spokeswoman said: ''We are aware of a serious incident at Cults Academy today. Police are on site.

"Due to the nature of this incident, we will not be issuing further comment."
