Royal Wedding: UK gears up for huge party

With only a week to go until the big day, Royal wedding fever is spreading across the UK.

But figures released today show that some parts of the province may not be as gripped by the excitement as others next Friday.

More than 5,500 parties will be held across the UK, according to statistics from the Local Government Association. Just under 100 of these will take place in Northern Ireland — with celebrations planned in 16 of the 26 council areas.

From a wedding dress fashion show in Belfast’s Cregagh estate to Royal afternoon tea at Castle Upton in Templepatrick, well-wishers are finally getting into the Royal wedding spirit.

Among the Northern Ireland council areas missing out on the street parties will be Ballymoney, Coleraine, Magherafelt and Strabane.
