Second arrest over break-in death

Police have arrested a second person on suspicion of murder over the death of a man during a break-in.

A 15-year-old boy was appearing in court today charged with murder and Scotland Yard said a 17-year-old male youth had been held and was being questioned at a south London police station.

The victim, believed to be in his late 30s, was found with serious injuries by police and paramedics at an address in Huntingfield Road, Roehampton, south London, on Tuesday evening.

A Yard spokesman said that though he has not been formally identified, his name is believed to be Martin Thomas.

An air ambulance crew arrived but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem examination revealed he died from a stab wound that punctured his lung.

The teenager appearing in custody at Wimbledon Magistrates Court, who for legal reasons has not been named, was arrested on Thursday night.

Detectives have been keen to trace three men seen loitering in the area before the man was killed.

Anyone with information should call police on 0208 721 4205 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
