Teen mum wins £100k on lottery card game

BY PAT HURST

A teenage single mother is celebrating an extra special Christmas after winning £100,000 on a National Lottery scratchcard.

Rebecca Tierney (19) from Golborne, near Wigan, bought the £1 Yellow Scratchcard the day before Christmas Eve after popping to her local shop for a can of cola.

Miss Tierney, who has a three-month-old baby boy, Cole, and lives at home with her mother, says she is looking forward to treating her family, learning to drive and buying her dream car.

She said: "I have never been able to afford driving lessons so I am definitely going to start to learn to drive and I absolutely love the Mini, so hopefully I will be able to buy my dream car too."

Miss Tierney is also planning a holiday abroad – something she has been unable to afford for the last few years – and an extra special 20th birthday celebration in January.

Miss Tierney added: "I am looking forward to having my best year ever in 2014 and I am looking forward to a great future ahead for both myself and my son.

"This win really has changed my life."
