Tribute to 'wonderful' TA soldier

A British Territorial Army soldier who was shot dead in Afghanistan has been described by his widow as "wonderful".

Sapper William Blanchard, 39, from Gosport, Hampshire, leaves behind a large family including his wife and two children.

A radiation protection officer by profession and a science graduate, Sapper Blanchard had volunteered for the 101 (City of London) Engineer Regiment (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) since 2007 and deployed to Afghanistan in September, according to the MoD.
