Trio jailed over 'filmed' rape

Three men have been jailed for sexually assaulting a woman in an attack which they filmed on a mobile phone, police said.

Detectives from Thames Valley Police praised the courage of the victim following the incident, which happened in Oxford last November.

Mohammed Shahjahan, 27, of Slaymaker Close, Headington, was found guilty of rape and sexual assault and was sentenced to eight years in prison at Oxford Crown Court, a force spokesman said.

Feizal Ali, 25, of Howard Street, Oxford, was jailed for three years after being convicted of sexual assault by penetration.

The third man, 26-year-old Nicholas Jones, of White Road, Cowley, admitted sexual assault by touching and voyeurism and was sentenced to three and half years imprisonment.

Detective Inspector Simon Morton said: "The victim's courage, strength and determination has been incredible, I just hope for her, the justice system has worked and that she can now start to move on with her life.

"This has been a long investigation by numerous officers, including the serious sexual offences unit, into a truly sickening incident, which came to light after it was discovered the offences had been filmed by the men.

"It's really important that this sends the message to victims out there of sexual offences that we will do our utmost to thoroughly investigate sexual offences and bring offenders to justice."

The victim told the BBC she had only discovered she had been attacked when Jones showed her the footage two weeks later.

She said all she remembered was having three vodka cocktails and then waking up in a bed. "It was a big shock," she said of the moment she saw the images.
