TUC to hold spending cuts rally
Union activists will stage a series of rallies and protests over the weekend to demonstrate against the Government's spending cuts ahead of a huge national event being held in March.
The Trades Union Congress (TUC) is organising March For The Alternative on March 26, which is expected to attract thousands of people from across the country.
Events are being held throughout London, the South East and Eastern England this Saturday and Sunday, ranging from petitions, meetings and rallies to a demonstration outside the office of Liberal Democrat health minister Paul Burstow in his Sutton and Cheam constituency.
Megan Dobney, TUC regional secretary for the South East region, said: "Trade unionists and community activists will be taking local action to demonstrate their opposition to the Government's dangerous and unnecessary cuts."
