Voice hopefuls vie for finals spot

Budding pop stars will take to the stage tonight in an effort to win a place in the final of BBC talent show The Voice.

Eight semi-finalists will each perform a solo cover version and take part in a group song with their mentor and team-mate.

One from each mentor's group will then make it through to next week's final.

Singers 19-year-old Jamie Johnson from Gillingham and 31-year-old Lee Glasson from Coventry are competing from mentor Kylie Minogue's team, while 25-year-old Manchester vocalist Chris Royal will be vying for a final place against 20-year-old Christina Marie from Bristol in the team led by Kaiser Chiefs' Ricky Wilson.

Tom Jones also has two acts remaining - Sally Barker, 54, and 43-year-old Bizzi Dixon, both of which are from Leicester.

Will.I.Am is represented by Jermain Jackman, 19, from London, and Sophie-May Williams from Wakefield, who at 17 is the youngest remaining contestant.

The Voice will be shown on BBC1 from 7pm.
