What BBC staff can claim set out in 23-page booklet for employees
Details of what BBC staff can claim for working early or late are set out in a 23-page document issued to all employees.
Entitled 'Conditions of Service Policy', it forms part of the contract of employment.
The guide states: "As a 24/7 media organisation, working flexibly is inherent in everything we do at the BBC and employees may be required to work flexibly either on a temporary or continuing basis. Within this context, managers must ensure health and safety considerations remain paramount, whilst respecting the quality of life of individual members of staff."
A copy of the guide was obtained by the Belfast Telegraph.
One section outlines how staff can claim payment for unpredictable working patterns.
The guide says an employee's working pattern is "subject to change from time to time".
It states: "Employees may be required to work on a rota based system to create or support BBC output and some work patterns may involve working early, late, at night and on weekends or bank holidays.
"Some work patterns may involve changes to days or hours at short notice. All employees may occasionally be required to work such patterns in the course of delivering or supporting BBC content.
"The BBC aims to give everyone as much notice as operationally possible when planned work times or days need to change and, where schedules apply, the employee will usually be notified of, or be able to determine, any expected days or hours at least seven days in advance.
"This is not guaranteed and may be subject to change."
