Woman arrested in Essex beach suicide probe

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of assisting a suicide after a man died who was taken ill on a beach.

Essex Police were called to the scene in St Osyth at 5.40am on Friday by paramedics reporting a man and woman in need of medical assistance.

They were both taken to hospital where the male later died.

A 40-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting suicide and is being held in police custody.

Officers are appealing for anyone who saw anything suspicious in the Spring Road area between 1am and 6am on Friday to get in touch with Clacton CID on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
