A woman has been taken to hospital after falling from a coach travelling on a motorway.

The victim, in her 20s, is believed to have fallen from the vehicle's emergency exit on to the M42 near the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to junction 6 of the motorway shortly after 11pm on Sunday.

An ambulance service spokesman said the woman had suffered a serious head injury and was stabilised at the scene before being taken to Coventry's University Hospital.
