X Factor's hot favourites hoping to make hits from misses
A pair of songs which have failed to make the UK top 40 have been lined up for winner's singles on The X Factor.
Andrea Faustini will release a cover of the late Whitney Houston's song I Didn't Know My Own Strength, while Ben Haenow and Fleur East have recorded a version of the OneRepublic track Something I Need if either of them win.
The tracks are both by artists signed to labels which are part of Sony Music, the company which signs up the winning acts from the ITV singing contest.
It is also the parent firm for releases by producer Mark Ronson who received an unexpected boost from the show this week after his unreleased track Uptown Funk was performed by East during the semi-final. He has gone on to rush-release the track and is now almost certain to go to number one at the weekend.
Houston's track made it to number 44 in the singles chart when it was released in 2009. Something I Need has not charted in the UK but featured on last year's OneRepublic album Native.
The US group's main man Ryan Tedder has a strong track record in providing hits for X Factor stars including Ella Henderson, One Direction and 2006 winner Leona Lewis.
