X Factor winner Matt Cardle has performed his debut single in front of hundreds of screaming fans, and admitted life is "not how it was before".
The singer sang When We Collide in front of a crowd at HMV in Whiteleys's shopping centre in west London and told the audience his life had been "turned upside down and inside out".
He said: "This is not how it was before. I wanted to be a singer for a living and this is wicked."
Cardle, whose single is a cover of a track by Scottish hard-rockers Biffy Clyro, is the bookies favourite to be Christmas number one.
He said: "It would be amazing to have a Christmas number one but obviously there are certain factors in the way."
The former painter and decorator admitted he is still getting used to life as a star, saying: "Everything else that comes with it can be really strange but singing is my career and it is what I want to do.
"I met the Prime Minister yesterday (Wednesday) and David Beckham, people that I have been looking up to for years."
Hundreds of fans queued to meet the singer and get a signed copy of his single.
Cardle was firm favourite to win throughout this year's series of the X Factor and finished ahead of Rebecca Ferguson and boyband One Direction in the final show, which was watched by 17.2 million viewers.
But speaking in an online interview with his mentor Dannii Minogue on MyDaily.co.uk, the X Factor champ said he is still planning to keep a promise to an old friend and play a wedding gig.
