York bistro bites back at TripAdvisor fuming review about water bill and 'rude staff'

A Cafe - which found itself in hot water over a scathing TripAdvisor review - has come out fighting over the price of its water, with a slice of lemon.

Bennett's Cafe & Bistro in York, England was branded "over-priced and very rude" in a review by a customer on TripAdvisor.

Hannah C, from north Yorkshire, visited for afternoon tea with friends in December, but branded it "absolutely awful" in a review she titled "over-priced and very rude".

She says she was on a "tight budget" so ordered hot water and a slice of lemon.

Only to find to her dismay she was charged £2, which she complained was "too much for some water".

"When I asked why I was being charged," she posted, "so much for some water the waiter rudely said 'well, do you know how much a lemon costs?' Yes, its definitely not £2."

In response, Bennett's detailed the exact cost her order is to those involved in the catering industry from the waiter taking the order to the selection of the knife to cut the lemon.

"Perhaps, the rudeness that you perceived in me was triggered by the disrespect that I perceived in you by your presumption that you could use our facilities and be waited on for free. " the manager wrote.

Thank you so much for all your support regarding the "hot water" we got into with our Tripadvisor review response, it...
