Humberside Police said the child, a girl aged between 12 and 18 months old, was found in a pram on Southcoates Lane, Hull.

Police were called to the scene in the early hours by a member of the public.

The child was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary to be examined and is now safe and well.

A police spokesman said: "The parents have been located as a result of inquiries this morning by the police. The child is safe."

Earlier, police made an appeal for the mother to come forward, "as a matter of urgency".
